When I became pregnant with my first child I took redundancy from my job as a medical devices account manager. The money and benefits were great but the pressure would not have lent itself to family life. When my daughter Sophie was born I knew I had made the right decision, a decision which enabled me to spend more quality time with her.

I have always loved photography and with a baby in the house that hobby turned into a passion. I upgraded my camera and was more and more excited about the results I was managing to achieve. It seemed the perfect solution. Early 2008 I started an online photography course, bought a professional camera, learnt how to use it properly and started booking portrait sessions at Sophie’s baby and toddler groups. I set up a website and facebook page and have managed to generate a steady stream of work ever since. In 2011 I was really proud to be awarded Licentiate of the British Institute of Professional Photography. I specialise in new born baby and wedding photography and have developed my own distinctive contemporary style.

It can be hard when you work for yourself as there is no strict line between ‘office’ and family time and I have to tell myself off for spending the occasional Sunday editing my latest new born shoot but I do feel very lucky to have the best of both worlds. I feel privileged to capture breath-taking moments in people’s lives and ‘work’ with gorgeous little babies and children but be home in time to ferry my kids to the latest club or party.
